AksuInn is located in the center of the closest village from the national park. It has several rooms and a dining room. ...Yevgeny, the owner, fetched us by car from the train station of Tyulkubas (20km). The room was okay, but smelled humidity a lot. The shower and toilets were working but were not the cleanest. The food cooked by Yevgeny's wife was good (they provide full board accommodation). We spent two nights at his place and did one "nature" excursion in the reserve.
The main problem with this B&B is the price. We paid nearly 100$ (30'000 tenge) per day (for 2 people full board). Since it was recommended by the center for ecotourism in Almaty, we thought that was the usual price and did not try to negotiate or look for other places. We found out after, talking to other travelers who stayed in the area, that there is at least one other place, way closer to the park, that charges THREE TIME less, for the same level of service (10'000 tenge). Moreover, we read that Yevgeny is a biologist. We were eager to go with him for the nature excursion in the park. It turned out that he did not come with us, he just dropped us there (8 kilometers for 10$) and left us with a ranger who was not speaking a word of english and who was just rushing through the walk to have a longer nap during the lunch break.
Our advice, try out other places in the village, you will at least save quite some money for the same services and level of comfort.
